Warner Music Goes Digital! | MUSIK !D TV NEWS
In 2017, rumors were spreading that Len Blavatnik, the Warner Music Group owner, was examining a promising acquisition of SoundCloud. Although Blavatnik didn’t make the deal.
However, there’s a possibility that he can start up a compelling conversation between the music industry’s A&R community: what happens when a record label has access to an authorized data that illustrates who the popular new artists, globally?
On March 29, Max Lousada declared that the acquisition of Sodatone, a Toronto-based organization, which the large claims has ‘settled a reputation as the world’s leading A&R insight tool’. Sodatone’s tech merges streaming, social and touring statistics with machine training to analyze the independent talent that it believes has the best opportunity of future success.
“At Warner Music, we’re creating an entrepreneurial environment where art and technology thrive together. Arjun and Jerry are two talented pioneers, whose passion for algorithms and trends is matched by our love for music and culture. They understand that A&R instinct has always been informed by different types of data, and have created a tool that brings new sophistication and foresight to creative decisions.” – Max Lousada, Global CEO of Warner Music Group
