Recently, Splash News and Picture Agency filed a lawsuit against Jessica Simpson for copyright infringement. The lawsuit was filed after Simpson released a photo of herself on Instagram that was taken by the paparazzi. Splash owns the copyright of this particular picture. Since Simpson posted the picture first, it will be challenging for Splash to license and make profit from it. “The copy of the Photograph that Simpson distributed on Instagram has been altered, without authorization or approval, to remove the CMI showing plaintiff as the copyright owner of the image.” - Peter Perkowski, Splash’s attorney What do you guys think?
