In a small field in the US Copyright Act of 1976, it was declared that the copyright owner can authorize their rights back after 35 years, even if you have advanced royalties or not.

Although, you have 3 years to contact your rights owners for your rights back. It used to be 5 years, but the law needs you to aware them 2 years in advance. Artists and songwriters from 1978 – 1992 are allowed to terminate.
