Spotify has been under the fire of a copyright lawsuit filed by Robert Gaudio. This case will open the discussion of mechanical rights. Recently, the judge rejected Spotify’s “no licensing rights” motion. So this means that the case can go on without a fixed objection from the plaintiffs. Although, Spotify’s attorneys can still go forward with their argument.
Richard Busch, a lawyer who represented Gaye’s family in the “Blurred Lines” case, made a response and 3rd lawsuit. If Spotify loses this case, it could have a negative effect on a public stock offer. If they win, this case will alter the music publishing business.
